Toy Photography Book on sale!
With the shutdown, comic books aren’t being delivered to stores. Comic and their distributors are closed. To prevent fan boredom Dynamite comics is running an indiegogo champaign with on hand books. They are discounting graphic novels and comics that they have in stock so won’t be delayed waiting for publication.
One of the books is Ten Seconds Per Frame by Johnny Wu. He has some amazing Toy Photographer. The book is only $6.00. Other books include Red Sonja, The Romita Legacy, Art of Alex Ross, and mystery boxes of comics and graphic novels. They’ve already sold out of the Art of Atari book, I would have bought it if they still had any.
Supplies are limited to what is on hand and the sale ends at the end of April. Shipping is expected to start as soon as indiegogo releases the payment.
Time to build.

Quarantine Build #5 Ship in a Bottle
Since I have to stay at home, I’m building some of my sets I haven’t had time to build. Here is build #5.LEGO Ideas 21313 Ship in a bottle. This Ideas set was released in 2018. It was designed by a LEGO fan, other fans voted for it. and LEGO decided to make in into a actual set. It has 963 pieces and retails for $69.99.
It is a challenging set suggested for ages 12+, There a lot of repeated steps, While building the ship you have to flip it from side to side to build. The ship builds rather quickly.
I really like the cannons. They are with only three pieces and are clearly cannons sticking out of a gun port.
Building the bottle base was challenging cause it’s all clear pieces. I worked on some construction paper so the pieces would stand out against my white desktop. The parts reminded me of shattered safety glass. Safety glass breaks into chucks rather unlike normal glass that breaks into shards.
The bottle base took the longest time to build if you don’t get it right, the bottle sides wont fit right.
You build the boat then build the bottle around it. After you build the bottom half if the bottle you attach the ship to it. Then add the sea, which is made of single stud pieces. All of bag 3 is small translucent light blue pieces. There are two #3 bags. Just dump them into the bottle, On LEGO Masters, Team unicorn used single pieces to make water and the judges didn’t like it. But here it is in a set.
The bottle cork is beautifully designed. The wax seal is very cool. Add the top half of the bottle. The directions say add the 4 pieces that make up the bottle top to the neck one at a time then connect to the bottom half of the bottle. I found it easier to add the top panels to the bottom them add the neck to the top.
The base includes a compass, 2 globes and a name plate. The base is beautiful, Kind of a shame of it to be hidden under the ship.
Initially I originally thought the ship was too small but once the bottle was built, I realized the bottle was in 1:1 scale of real bottles. With that in mind, he ship was the correct size for a bottle.

Quarantine Build #4 Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter
Since I have to stay at home, I’m building some of my sets I haven’t had time to build. Here is build #4. This is a Revell Snap-tite model. It does not require paint or glue. It says no glue put could have used some. My glue is packed up somewhere so I did’t dig it out. Anakin didn’t want to stay in his seat and the cockpit window wouldn’t snap in place.

Quarantine Build #3 Brick Headz Brick Headz, roly poly Brick Headz
Since I have to stay at home, I’m building some of my sets I haven’t had time to build. Here is build #3. The Incredibles 2 set with Mr Incredible and Frozone. It’s a 160 piece set and a quick build. I did time myself on building Mr Incredible. It took 15.46 minutes. I would have been shorter but I drop a few pieces. I did n’t time Frozone, I forgot to start the timer.

Modern problems need modern solutions.
I recently got some DC mini figures blind bags. Green Lantern was the first one with the new posing flying parts. There’s a base and a clear peg. When you attach them to the figures it looks like they are in the air. I need to get some more of these for my photos.
