Year end Review: Favorite Builds

It is the end of the year so here’s a quick look and my favorite builds of the year.

LEGO Cuusoo Back to Future DeLorean.

This is the first Cuusoo project I supported that was made into a set. I got it the day it was released. There were a couple problems with the build but it’s an great set. The minifigs are well done with a layered looked to the clothes.

bttf_flying bttf2_21103   My Favorite set of the year The Hobbit: An Unexpected Gathering (79003). The set was released at the end of 2012 but I didn’t get it till 2013. It was the first of The Hobbit sets and still my favorite. It’s Bagend the home of Bilbo Baggins. The set did not disappoint. Bag End is a Beautiful build.

I plan to do a list of my favorite minifigs of 2013 plus finish the tale of the K-mart Medusa. I’m also sure wordpress will send me my year end stats soon. I’ll add my thoughts about those too. It’s been a busy year for the blog featuring LEGO, Star Wars, and Minions.  Dec 2013 has been the busy month ever for the blog.A new record for views and just a couple days to see how far we can push that record.

Thank you all for the great year.

LEGO CUUSOO: Back To The Future

It’s been a while since I’ve had time to post any pics. I changed shifts at work and don’t have as much free time as I want.

Growing up the Back the Future trilogy was one of my favorite series, right behind Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I was really excited when the Back to the Future DeLorean was announced as a LEGO CUUSOO Set. It was the first project that I supported to actually be made into a set.

The Marty McFly and Doc Brown minifigs are well done. The have dual sided heads and back printing on the torso. The instruction booklet is a nice collection piece. There are a few pieces of Lego and BTTF trivia included. One being that the date on the time display is the date that the LEGO patent was granted. I would have preferred the actual dates that appeared onscreen in the first film. There were on only two dates on the time display but I guess that all that would fit and be legible.
bttf_flyingThe build was very detailed. I had a couple times when the parts just did not want to snap. The first movie version was a little bland for my tastes so I made the BTTF3 version. The hood looks a lot better. You can see it here with an old Texaco Hoverport fuel station toy.

bttf_3602M. Togami and Sakuretsu’s designed the set as part of LEGO CUUSOO deal they get one percent of the sales of the set. They have decided to donate their share to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Michael J Fox will be back on television this fall with a new show, The Michael J Fox will air on NBC starting Sept 26.

New record

My site stats reveal that July was a record month for readership. The old record was for December last year while I was blogging the LEGO Star Wars advent calendar. The new record in visitors and views was due to Despicable me minion traffic.
August has started off strong with views on the LEGO Back to the Future set.
Welcome to all my new followers. Please feel free to comment and give feedback.

LEGO CUUSOO: Back to the Future!

LEGO CUUSOO announces summer review.

LEGO CUUSOO has announced the results of their current review. They were reviewing four projects. the results are.

EVE Online Ships – Rifter the LEGO Review Board has decided that this project does not meet the requirements for the business case

The Modular Western Town would conflict with the upcoming Lone Ranger line so it will not be made.

The Legend of Zelda will not be made due to the cost of making news molds for the mini-figs in the games.

But one set did make the cut and passed the review. One of the best film trilogies will be made into LEGO form.

After analyzing the supporters of the Back to the Future project, we learned that this product has a broad, worldwide appeal. The model presented in this project is built very closely to the LEGO Group’s design standards and has therefore provided a strong base to design the final product. It has a high play value and it fits well with supporters’ price expectations.

For these reasons, the Back to the Future project has passed the LEGO Review, and has been selected for production as the next LEGO CUUSOO set. The final product, pricing, and release dates are still being determined.

I’m really excited about Back to the Future theme. I would have like also had Zelda approved cause it is so popular. New western stuff would be cool as well, I guess they are banking on Lone Ranger to fill that void in the LEGO line.
