Happy Tartan Day 2017!

Happy Tartan Day, April 6 is Tartan day but celebrations may be held on the weekend.

Batman wearing a kilt
Tartan Batman came with Chaos in Gotham City (The LEGO Batman Movie: Activity Book). It’s a kids activity book with comics, mazes, and spot the differences brain teasers. The book retails for $8.99. I got our copy at Wal-mart, they usually have books discounted 20%. Amazon currently has it discounted to $5.55.

The Bagpipe player was part of Minifigures series 7. I’m not sure where the bagpipes are last I saw them Deadpool had them.

Easter Minion Mega Blok Blind Bag minifigs

Easter Minions are out. I found these at Kroger. They are part of the Despicable Me Mega Construx series.  There are only three mini figs in this series,Kevin, Bob, and an evil minion.

Really the only thing new on these are the accessories. Kevin has an Easter Egg bowl, which doubles as a hat. he also has a spring of hair. Bob has basket and an egg or maybe a cupcake. The purple minion has a mini purple bunny. The limited parts make it easy to feel the bag and get all three figures without getting duplicates. They have a thin light blue 2×4 base.

“What’s in the Bag Tip?”:

Kevin and the evil minion both have long torsos. Bob is not that much shorter than them so feel for the accessories. The bowl is fairly distinctive. It’s round and hollow. The purple minion can be found by its hair. You can feel something soft and not flat like the checklist. For Bob feel for the basket. It is narrow unlike the bowl.

Minion Fan?

So will you add these to your collection?

Independence Day speech clip and text!

My traditional posting of one of film’s great speeches with test so you can recite it.

President Whitmore’s Speech From Independence Day

“Good morning. Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world, and you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. Mankind, that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interest. Perhaps it’s fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation. We’re fighting for our right to live, to exist. and should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice, ‘We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on, we’re going to survive.’ Today we celebrate our independence day!”

Brick Swag November unboxing peek.

I recently started a BrickSwag subscription. It’s like the other surprise boxed but it has LEGO. Each box has a Brick themed Tee- shirt, some kind of mini-build, a printed brick and more. I got the November box a few days ago. I had a little time so I went ahead and made the build included with this box. Since is a turkey I wanted to go ahead and build it now.
brick swag november build lego turkey
This is a neat build.  A Turkey with vegetables on a platter. There is also the printed 2×3 block with #BrickSwag on one side and the month and year on the next side.  There is more in the box I just didn’t have time to photograph it all. I have a couple of days off in a row next week so hopefully I can get the who;e box photographed then. I actually got the October box as well but between the Ren faire and class, I haven’t had time to even build the October build.

I have begun the final project for class. I know what it will be but I have to plan and build it. Along with wrapping up all the other  project i need for class. The next couple months are going to be pretty busy with school so the blog may be quite for a while. There may be some stuff, like the rest of BrickSwag posted Thanksgiving weekend. And I plan on posting Star Wars Advent Calendar in December. And that may be it for the year.

Graduation is in January then that weekend is BrickFaire.

What do you think of Brick Swag? That’s not all that is in the box there’s a t-shirt, a mini magazine,  and bag of bricks, and a couple more things.  If there’s interest I’ll continue to blog the boxes. Next’s month theme is Force.

Star Wars Reads Day 2015

Today is Star Wars Reads Day.

Fans of reading and a certain galaxy far, far away have reason to rejoice: Star Wars Reads Day, a day-long celebration of literacy and Jedi, Sith, Wookiees, and all things Star Wars, is returning.

Visit Star Wars Reads Day for author event locations and a Star Wars Day PDF kit with activities and recipes from some Star Wars books.

A few years ago I made a LEGO mini fig version of the Star Wars Reads Day Logo.

Other Book Posts

Apparently August 1 is Spider-man Day. If I knew earlier I would have shot something new. Today I’ll reblog some older pics. I just checked the LEGO shop and it says that a couple Spider-man sets will release today; Carnage’s SHIELD Sky Attack and Rhino and Sandman Super Villain Team-up. The Carnage set contains Carnage, ultimate Spider-man, and a SHEILD agent minifig. The set is only $12.99. I’ll pick it somewhere. It has been spotted in stores already. The Rhino set has some cool figs. What I really want is the Green Goblin minifig from the LEGO Juniors Spider-man Hideout set. I’m not sure if I’ll get the set or just get the minifig.

Have an Amazing Spider-man Day!
