The LEGO Ideas Exo suit has been revealed. And it is awesome. The exo suit is great looking and the set includes two astronaut minifigures in wait for it …..green suits! The set will be available on August first just in time for my Birthday. The Exosuit retails for $34.99 with 321 pieces.
The winter LEGO Ideas results have been announced and the new set will be Ellen Kooijman’s Female Minifigure set, featuring 3 scientists, now entitled “Research Institute” as our next LEGO Ideas set. This awesome model is an inspiring set that offers a lot for kids as well as adults. The final design, pricing and availability are still being worked out, but it’s on track to be released August 2014, so keep an eye out!
This is another excellent choice from LEGO Ideas. I’m glad they picked this one with the female role-models.
on April 30 LEGO CUUSOO will change to LEGO Ideas.
In the fall of 2008, CUUSOO SYSTEM and the LEGO Group teamed up to launch the LEGO CUUSOO crowdsourcing experiment. Initially, the site was only available in Japanese. But the promising results from the pilot led to the launch of the international LEGO CUUSOO beta site in the fall of 2011. Today, the LEGO Group is very happy to announce that the partnership with CUUSOO SYSTEM, has been such a success that we have decided to integrate the CUUSOO concept more closely into the LEGO experience called LEGO Ideas.
Other than the name change whats new.
1. Beginning April 30th, 2014, all Projects will have one year to reach 10,000 supporters.
Existing projects will receive a full year starting April 30th, 2014 and ending May 1st, 2015 to qualify, and will keep their existing supporters. Projects published after April 30th, 2014 will each receive one year from their publication date to reach 10k.
If a project doesn’t reach 10,000 supporters within the year, it will expire and will no longer accept supporters. After that, you’re welcome to re-submit and try again with the same project, but it will re-start at zero supporters and must reach 10,000 unique supporters within one year’s time to be considered in the LEGO Review.
2. If you are between 13-18 years old you may now create and submit projects, but if your project reaches 10,000 supporters, we will require written permission from a parent or legal guardian before your project is considered in the LEGO Review.
When LEGO Ideas goes online April 30th you’ll be able to sign in with a LEGO ID, find your old LEGO CUUSOO account, and connect to it on LEGO Ideas after clicking a confirmation link we will send you via email.
There’s more details at LEGO CUUSOO
GlenBricker’s Doctor Who project has just reached the 10,000 supporters level at LEGO CUUSOO!
It took less than a month for the project to hit the mark after LEGO changed their licensing requirements and opened the door to a possible Official LEGO Doctor Who set. The milestone vote was made early this morning and there is not yet an official 10,000 supporters comment from LEGO, but it does have that 10,000 banner!
No guarantee it will ever me made into a set but now there is a chance. This Doctor Who project now enters the review stage for consideration on possibly being made into a set. It will be in the first review period of 2014. Which is open till May 2014. By the number of Doctor Who projects on CUUSOO now there might be other time lord projects up for consideration by then.
Congratulations to GlenBricker!

Looks like a great set. I’m looking forward to building it.
Yes I’m so glad this will be a set. Who you gonna call? Ghost Busters 30th anniversary set! Just like for Back to the Future set I’ll get this one day of release.
The female minifigure set is still under review I hope it gets built as well.
Full announcement at LEGO CUUSOO
LEGO has announced the newest LEGO CUUSOO review results. Full results here.
They have made decisions on the projects for the past three review periods. The good news id the next LEGO CUUSSO set is the Exo Suit. I’m a big fan of Mechs and this even ties in with my current Robottober event. So I’m happy for this set. It should be out something in 2014.
The bad news is no Portals or Zelda Projects. The Land Rover set is still under review so maybe it’ll get built. It’s a nice model but not one I’m interested in buying.
It’s been a while since I’ve had time to post any pics. I changed shifts at work and don’t have as much free time as I want.
Growing up the Back the Future trilogy was one of my favorite series, right behind Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I was really excited when the Back to the Future DeLorean was announced as a LEGO CUUSOO Set. It was the first project that I supported to actually be made into a set.
The Marty McFly and Doc Brown minifigs are well done. The have dual sided heads and back printing on the torso. The instruction booklet is a nice collection piece. There are a few pieces of Lego and BTTF trivia included. One being that the date on the time display is the date that the LEGO patent was granted. I would have preferred the actual dates that appeared onscreen in the first film. There were on only two dates on the time display but I guess that all that would fit and be legible.
The build was very detailed. I had a couple times when the parts just did not want to snap. The first movie version was a little bland for my tastes so I made the BTTF3 version. The hood looks a lot better. You can see it here with an old Texaco Hoverport fuel station toy.
M. Togami and Sakuretsu’s designed the set as part of LEGO CUUSOO deal they get one percent of the sales of the set. They have decided to donate their share to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Michael J Fox will be back on television this fall with a new show, The Michael J Fox will air on NBC starting Sept 26.
McFly meets another Dr.
The 4th LEGO CUUSOO Set is mow at your local LEGO Store. I bought the DeLorean Back to the Future set early this morning. I’ll add a review eventually. The figs look great. The build was a bit harder than expected. But a nice set.
A great CUUSSO project shared by The Brick Collectors. CUUSSO Member Jedikermit has created some custom Muppet minifigs and vignettes with suggestions for more Muppet sets. The stage from the opening credits of Muppet show would make a great display for mini-figs.. Sam the Eagle would be easy to make reusing chicken suit guy’s body.
The Muppets would make an excellent series for LEGO sets, and have potential for both young builders and Adult Fans Of LEGO. There are dozens of popular characters, but there are also vehicles, playsets, and scenes that would make great buildable LEGO sets. Like other Disney properties that LEGO has produced, including Toy Story, Cars, and Pirates of the Caribbean, there’s a built-in audience of fans young and old that would be able to enjoy the system.
Some suggested sets at various price points:
KERMIT’S SWAMP $7.99
Kermit the Frog in a small swamp scene, with his banjo, some lily pads, and possibly a friendly alligator or his nephew Robin to add some play value. Could even include his bicycle that he uses to pedal away from it all in The Muppet Movie.
ELECTRIC MAYHEM BUS $39.99
The band from The Muppet Show has always been popular with kids and adults, and this set would include their bus as seen in The Muppet Movie. Characters would include Dr. Teeth, Floyd, Janice, Zoot and Animal, and all of their instruments would come with the set. A small stage could be built with the bus, or they could perform on top of the bus. They’re hippies like that.
MUPPET THEATER $59.99
The largest set would be The Muppet Theater, which would include a stage area, and a balcony to the side. Exclusive minifigures like Statler and Waldorf (the two old guys from the balcony), Sam Eagle, Swedish Chef, Rowlf the Dog, Mahna-Mahna and the Snowths, and unique versions of Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy could be included. Ideally, it would be wonderful to have different scenes for sketches that could be put onto the stage: some brick-built arches that represent the beginning of The Muppet Show; a small kitchen for the Swedish Chef, a grand piano for Rowlf..
This is is an awesome CUUSOO project please support Muppet LEGO CUUSOO.
LEGO CUUSOO has announced the results of their current review. They were reviewing four projects. the results are.
EVE Online Ships – Rifter the LEGO Review Board has decided that this project does not meet the requirements for the business case
The Modular Western Town would conflict with the upcoming Lone Ranger line so it will not be made.
The Legend of Zelda will not be made due to the cost of making news molds for the mini-figs in the games.
But one set did make the cut and passed the review. One of the best film trilogies will be made into LEGO form.
Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine
by m.togami* and Sakuretsu
After analyzing the supporters of the Back to the Future project, we learned that this product has a broad, worldwide appeal. The model presented in this project is built very closely to the LEGO Group’s design standards and has therefore provided a strong base to design the final product. It has a high play value and it fits well with supporters’ price expectations.
For these reasons, the Back to the Future project has passed the LEGO Review, and has been selected for production as the next LEGO CUUSOO set. The final product, pricing, and release dates are still being determined.
I’m really excited about Back to the Future theme. I would have like also had Zelda approved cause it is so popular. New western stuff would be cool as well, I guess they are banking on Lone Ranger to fill that void in the LEGO line.
