Bonus LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Content
It’s the day after Christmas. Here is some bonus fun with the Guardians calendar.
This year Marvel has a Guardians of the Galaxy advent calendar to tie in with the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
The special is Mantis and Drax trying to find the perfect gift to cheer up Peter. The builds are most likely based on the GOTG movies than the special itself. But there are some Christmas theme builds like the presents. I don’t think we will have Mantis in an ugly sweater.
December third’s build was a Kyln Hoverbot from when the crew is taken to prison in the first movie.

Today we have another part of Santa’s sleigh. This hooks behind the piece from a couple days ago. The rocket skis from yesterday attach to the sides. They didn’t provide the bricks to do that so I pulled a couple spare parts to attach the skis on the underside of the build.

Today we have a sprig of Holly. It’s made with three leaves pieces and a green baby Groot pieces. Ok the green version is often used for vegetable stalks. Pretty build.

Well it’s a figure but there’s hint it could be a little of both. It’s a min fig of Groot. He’s on a white base and has a bracket on his back. The bracket has a stud so maybe later we’ll get something to attach to it. And that cloud shaped base could he a tree skirt. Will Groot get decorated in the future?
He’s holding the phone upside down cause he’s at the awkward age.

Today we have a micro of Starlord’s Milano from the Guardians of the Galaxy vol I & II. Good looking ship.
You know what’s unusual for the set. So far we’ve not had much villain stuff. Yesterday’s Thanos snowman was the closest thing so far. We had the prison drone but that was part of the justice system. It was an obstacle for the group to overcome. But at that point in the story they were still thieves, assassins, and crooks. They hadn’t turned around to be heroes yet.

Today we have a little of both. It’s a snowman of Thanos. Complete with helmet and some armor pieces. He had a spare arm. that same piece was use as a baby Groot in previous sets. The rocket minifig set (#5002145). You can see Rocket from that set in this post. But I forgot to put baby Groot in the pic.

Today we have a Boom Box straight from the 80’s when Peter was picked up by the Yondu and crew. This was an easy build with cool printed pieces of dial and Peter’s awesome mix cassette. The speakers are a smart use of bricks.
You may remember on day ten I had to remove the tray to hunt for loose pieces. I had to pick up some bags to get the loose brick from the compartment. This is the bag I left of the table. I stuck it into day tens box till today when I found it it should have gone. Read about day ten.

Today we have the mining ship from GOTC. I thought this was yesterday’s build was. But wait there’s more there’s also a mini escape pod. This is suppose to be two tiny ships. Kind of hard to tell since they are so small. I thought yesterday’s build was small. They’re not suppose to connect I just misread the instructions at first.
I dislike these super micro things, They just don’t add much to the calendar. It would have been better if they had two mining pod instead of the tiny escape pod.

What is today’s Advent item?
Today the mystery is solved. This week I found unbagged parts with the bagged build in two doors. The loose parts belong to today’s build. When I opened the door all that was in there was two yellow discs and some single round studs. Even with these pieces it was not enough to finish the build. The bag had a hole just big enough for my finger.
I shook the calendar for loose pieces a few more slid to and open door. Still not all the parts. I slid the tray out of the box. I dug the remaining loose pieces out from future builds. Managed to avoid seeing the any future build instruction just saw bags of bricks. But I left a bag out and had to put in today’s compartment.
Now that I have the pieces I can build today’s item a mining lase drill ship from Guardians of The Galaxy 2. At first I thought it was the mining pod from the first movie but those were blue. This is one of the Ravengers heist ships.

I wasn’t expecting this. I said I did think we see Mantis in an ugly sweater, we haven’t so far. But Today we have Nebula in an Thanos ugly sweater. We didn’t see this outfit in the special so I still think the advent set id based on GOTG vol 1&2 and they just added Christmas builds.
She has presents wrapped in Thanos colors. The taller stack was from the instructions, the short stack was made of the spare pieces. More on spare pieces later.
This is one cool minifig. Has a back design which I forgot to shoot. I’ll add it in later.

A couple days ago I found loose parts in a door. Today I found another 1×1 slim stud. So somewhere in the calendar a bag is open.
