Brick Swag May Unboxing Theme: Super Heroes

It’s July and I just now have time to post the May box. It’s kind of fitting since it’s Independence Day and I’m wearing the May shirt today.  The theme for Brick Swag this month is “Super Heroes”. BrickSwag

brick_swag_may_shirt

The shirt design features a LEGO Captain America’s Shield. This is on of my favorite shirts. It tarnished a bit by that stupid Hydra Cap publicity stunt started right after I got the shirt.

BrickSwag’s May Build

brick_swag_may_build

Brick Books

brick_swag_may_book  There was only one build in this month’s box but we did get a DK readers Super Heroes book. Plus a comic that is usually packed in the DC comics LEGO sets. brick_swag_comic

BrickSwag’s December Builds

brickSwag_dec_tie

The build for December is a one of two Star Wars space ship sets. I got the X-wing and Tie Fighter set. It a cool mini build that you may have seen before.  The set was once a give away set at Toys R US. Some times they have build events for children. But what about AFOL? Well, Constructibles takes the instructions and build the sets. The BrickSwag brick is black and has the December 2015.

brickswag_dec_xwing

construtibles_ghost

The other possible set this month was a mini Star Wars Rebels Ghost Ship. You can get either set from constructibles.net. Both of theses sets were once Toys R Us Building events sets. Constructibles took the instructions and collected the parts so people who miss the events could build the sets.  They sell packs of LEGO pick a brick and LEGO Store Monthly Builds.

I thinking about getting the Ghost see but next month the Ghost Micro-Fighter ship comes out and I’ll be getting that one.

Brick Swag October Unboxing.

Yes it is  November and I am just now posting the BrickSwag unboxing for October. Sometimes life is too busy for even LEGO. The October Box was my first BrickSwag Box. The theme was one of my favorites, Robots.
BrickSwag_Oct_shirt

The shirt is a line up of LEGO robots and droids. I have all of those on the shirt. The one at the end is a peek at this month’s build. The design is on black which helps make the artwork pop. This is a new favorite of mine.

Brickswag october box booster brick

There was also a bag of bricks from Booster Bricks. This bag of bricks has a minifig. There’s about fifty bricks here plus the fig. You can see the interior of the magazine behind the bricks.

Brickswag build magazine and cards

This is the Build Magazine and the cards. It is a small but cool magazine. It is 12 pages not including the cover. It is  the size of a standard size of printer paper folded in half.

BrickSwag’s New Robot Mascot

BrickSwag_Oct_robot

The build for October is a  mini Brickbot. This robot is their mascot.  I’m a robot fan so I’m really happy with this guy. One of his eyes is half closed. He looks kind of sad. I could change it with another eye from my stock but I think it gives him a little more personality. I may have to find another partially closed eye to complete the look.

The BrickSwag brick is white and has the date on it.  I like these printed bricks. I have a small collection of these printed bricks from  Kickstarter Projects and special events. This will add nicely to my collection.

Here is the Robot with a Clockwork robot minifig for size comparison.

Brick Swag November unboxing peek.

I recently started a BrickSwag subscription. It’s like the other surprise boxed but it has LEGO. Each box has a Brick themed Tee- shirt, some kind of mini-build, a printed brick and more. I got the November box a few days ago. I had a little time so I went ahead and made the build included with this box. Since is a turkey I wanted to go ahead and build it now.
brick swag november build lego turkey
This is a neat build.  A Turkey with vegetables on a platter. There is also the printed 2×3 block with #BrickSwag on one side and the month and year on the next side.  There is more in the box I just didn’t have time to photograph it all. I have a couple of days off in a row next week so hopefully I can get the who;e box photographed then. I actually got the October box as well but between the Ren faire and class, I haven’t had time to even build the October build.

I have begun the final project for class. I know what it will be but I have to plan and build it. Along with wrapping up all the other  project i need for class. The next couple months are going to be pretty busy with school so the blog may be quite for a while. There may be some stuff, like the rest of BrickSwag posted Thanksgiving weekend. And I plan on posting Star Wars Advent Calendar in December. And that may be it for the year.

Graduation is in January then that weekend is BrickFaire.

What do you think of Brick Swag? That’s not all that is in the box there’s a t-shirt, a mini magazine,  and bag of bricks, and a couple more things.  If there’s interest I’ll continue to blog the boxes. Next’s month theme is Force.

So What’s in the Box?

First up is Garbage pail minikins series 2($2.99). Two figures with matching stickers. I remember Garbage pail from when I was little. There were gross and fun. I got Micheal Mutant ans Pete Seat. Pete Seat is a yellow Variant version. That bag said yellow was ultra rare but I have no clue as to how rare. The comic store version have peach as their ultra rare and they are 1 in 12. Yellow rare were sold in retail blind bags.

Nerd Block July Unboxing: ComicCon Edition

It’s Nerd Block Time! They call it comic con in a box and this month they really mean it. Timed to arrive just before Comic Con this week they included an actual Comic Con item but more on that later.

What is Nerd Block?

Nerd Block is a monthly subscription service for geeks. Every month, subscribers will receive a package containing a t-shirt and 4-6 toys or collectables. You pick the shirt size but the design and toys are unknown.

So What’s in the Box?

First up is Star Wars Insider  The magazine focused on Star Wars. I used to get this but let my subscription lapse since there were no new movies planned. Now that Disney is producing more films maybe it’s time to renew. The Cover article is Jeffery Brown’s Darth books. These are cool books I have Darth Vader Father and Son book. I love it. Star Wars Insider retails for $7.99. This is the first of two Star Wars items this month.

SW_insider

NERF Zombie Strike Ricochet ($7.99) Read about it in Nerf Wika. They give it a retail of $7.99. It is neat. Too big for my son to use. I could use it as a costume accessory. If I get finish my steam punk outfit.  Here’s a picture of how others have painted NERF guns for costume uses.

nerf_zombie_strike_sm

The shirt is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles design. Turtles are awesome I will wear this one. Retail ~$11.00TMNT_shirt

The second Star Wars item is a deformed plush vehicle. I got the Millennium Falcon. Their postcard also showed an AT-AT and an X-wing. Any of them would have be cool but I’m glad I got my favorite ship.

Mill_falcon

The Comic Con tie-in is a DVD of Comic-Com IV A Fan’s hope. It is a documentary on Comic Con. I haven’t watched it yet.I hope it is entertaining.  It has interviews with Stan Lee and Joss Whedon. Which partly explains how Nerd Block tied them into this month the other reason, the dvd included a PVC figure of Stan Lee and Harry Knowles of Ain’t It Cool News. Others sets had Joss whedon and the Morgan Spurlock, who directed the documentary.

I found a little history on the figures. NECA had them a while back and there were only 20,000 of the figures made.

In review some cool stuff this month. A Star Wars magazine, A NERF gun, a plush Millennium Falcon, A cool TMNT shirt, and a DVD with a Stan Lee figure.

Spoiler alert! If you get a box don’t read the shipping label. There is a mini invoice on it that tells whats inside. It’s vague but may reveal more than you want to know.

Do you enjoy this review? Any questions. I’m considering reviewing the Nerd Block as a monthly feature.

Nerd Block June Unboxing

I had a day off on Friday. I spent part of the day shooting mini figs. I had just download the  new images to the computer. Thunderstorms have been in the forecast all day and they finally started. I could hear the thunder outside my office, I glanced out the window and saw the rain falling but not heavily. I spotted the mail truck outside and figure I better get the mail before the rain got bad.

I shut down the computer and downstairs. As I opened the door, the lights go out. We just lost power. And where it was light rain a few moments before it was now pouring outside. I stepped on the porch and the wind is blew rain in my face. There’s thunder and lighting  but the porch is covered so I thought I’ll wait out the storm. The lights flicker back. Then there’s a Kaaarck as a tree limb crashes to the ground.

I watched the rain awhile longer then decided it’s not slowing down so I’ll head back inside. I turn around and there at my feet is the my first Nerd Block.

What is Nerd Block?

Nerd Block is a monthly subscription service for geeks. Every month, subscribers will receive a package containing a t-shirt and 4-6 toys or collectables. You pick the shirt size but the design and toys are unknown. I signed up for the June box because they announced there were two shirts and a Doctor Who item in the June block.

So What’s in the Box?

I’ll  start with the smallest item, a Minecraft sticker by Jinx. Retail $1.99. Cool if you play the game. I don’t but will pass it on to somebody that does play.

nerd block unboxing minecraft sticker

Next is a Wii Mario Kart racer. I got Donkey Kong. Which is good cause he’s my favorite. Retail ~$2.00

nerd block unboxing

Next are the shirts. Iron Sentinel and Who you gonna call. Both are cool shirts. I love Ghost Busters and Giant Robots. Retail $10 each.

nerdblock_june_shirt1 nerd block

Next is the Doctor Who item. It is a Titans vinyl figure. This is from the Doctors series and it could have been any of the eleven Doctors. I got the First Doctor. These are neat figures I have a Judoon from series. Retail $8-$10

nerd_block_june_doctor

But the big surprise in this box was a game.

Nerd Block unboxingIt’s a Nerd Block pin art game. You make shapes and design by pushing the pins. This will live on my desk and most likely appear in action figure photo some day.

Here is  the Doctor in the blue box of pins.

nerd block pin game

Spoiler alert! If you get a box don’t read the shipping label. There is a mini invoice on it that tells whats inside. It’s vague but may reveal more than you want to know. I saw “vinyl figure on mine.” which was the Doctor Who figure. After the unboxing I read the entire label. It specfically said Mario cart racer but were listed in generic terms; shirt, sticker, game.

Do you enjoy this review? Any questions. I’m considering reviewing the Nerd Block as a monthly feature.
